Movie Review: The Expendables

I went to watch with the boys and @junsern. 7 of us enjoyed the movies so much as it was thrilled with action pack! Seriously, the story line, nah… That’s not what we came for. We came for the action, the blood and the fight scenes. Brutal giler! This is definitely not a typical chick flick or normal action movies that you can watch from typical kung fu movies/action movies. This is plain brutal bloody movies that made me felt excited after watched 300 and Rambo 5. One word: AWESOME!
So what is it all about?

The Expandables is about brutal action thriller that consists of a group of hired mercenaries. Their latest mission is to kill the ruthless dictator from a South American country called Vilena. Once they carried out the mission, these men realized that things aren’t simple as they thought it would be. It has becoming complicated when betrayal came into the pictures by their own mate! It became tougher when detroying their band of brothers might be the only way.

Barney is the leader of the band of brothers who also a tough guy with nothing to lose. Fearless and soulless when comes to executing the mission. His loyal band of brothers too struggled with him and face the brutality of the enemies together which they always look out for each other. Not to forget, these boys do have a cynical sense of humor too. Well, typical hardcore brutal men.
The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade, a.k.a Blade Expert; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat mainly because of his small size; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons. Unfortunately, this Gunner dude has problem of his own that compromise the team missions all the time.

When the mysterious Church (Bruce Willis) offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team just do what been offered and go on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people.

On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), who happened to be the General’s only daughter. That’s complicates the mission when Barney wanted to save her from the chaotic situation & don’t want to leave her behind.

My Verdict: 8/10

I don’t mind to watch it again and it’s advisable not to bring friends who don’t like brutality and blood when comes to movies. This movies did show how a man being beheaded or being shot by a big gun and turned into meat balls! But again, I love it! Who cares!
